Therapeutic approach

Many clients come to therapy feeling stuck, often after trying other therapeutic approaches. Michelle’s integrative style builds on any previous therapeutic work and is grounded in the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model—the foundation of EMDR. This model suggests that present-day struggles often stem from unprocessed life experiences, which can negatively affect current behaviours, relationships, and emotional wellbeing, even if those experiences are not consciously remembered.

To promote positive and lasting change, she helps clients to identify these core issues and to process them in a safe and tolerable way, using EMDR and a range of trauma and attachment-informed interventions.

Meet Michelle

With a warm, grounded approach and a strong clinical foundation, Michelle brings over a decade of experience to her work as a work as a counsellor and psychotherapist. Her practice is rooted in compassion, curiosity, and evidence-based care, supporting people through trauma, grief, and life’s more complex challenges.

In 2019, she trained in Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), later completing a Master of Science (MSc) in EMDR Therapy at the University of Worcester. This advanced postgraduate training allowed her to conduct her own research and deepen her understanding of EMDR as a powerful, evidence-based therapy—not only for trauma, but for a wide range of mental health conditions and emotional difficulties.

She continues to build on her expertise through extensive CPD training across multiple therapeutic models, enabling her to offer a flexible, integrative approach tailored to each client’s needs.

Since establishing her private counselling and therapy practice in 2017, she has worked with individuals from all walks of life. Alongside her private clients, she also delivers therapy on behalf of charities, corporate organisations, and Government departments—supporting emergency services personnel, military veterans, survivors of sexual violence and abuse, bereaved parents and families, and insurance claimants.

In 2019, she created a therapeutic sanctuary in South Wales—for both humans and animals—and remains dedicated to improving the lives of all beings, human or otherwise.
